Doug Campbell -
President, LinkEdge Business Strategies, Inc.

After four years in the US Air Force, I went back to school and earned the BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering.  My studies and research were specialized in control systems and digital computer theory/application.

Corporate Engineering

Immediately after school, I went to work for a multi-national manufacturing company and, over a 27-year period, I enjoyed the following experiences.

Plant Electrical Engineer — Provided electrical engineering support for refining and smelting with emphasis on instrumentation and analog control systems in the refining division. Responsibilities included project design, management, and supervision of craft personnel in installation startups.

Computer Engineering Supervisor — Initiated and developed plan for integrated production control of refining plant. Responsibilities included supervision of engineers and applications programmers for the installation and utilization of sensors, data acquisition equipment and computer hardware/software.

Corporate Computer Engineer — Provided corporate-level design and consultation for domestic and foreign refining and primary products divisions. Responsibilities included on site process system evaluation and project designs for instrumentation and computer-oriented advanced control projects.

Process Control Manager — Designed and managed implementation of computer based integrated monitoring and control of an entire refining plant as part of an overall plant refurbishment. Responsibilities included process planning, software engineering, construction supervision, system testing, and personnel supervision/training.

Corporate Staff Systems Engineer — Provided corporate-level leadership and supervision for development and implementation of computer systems integration technology. Responsibilities included management of project team through all phases from definition, requirements and functional specifications, design, prototyping, synthesis, commissioning, and customer acceptance. This period includes a 1.5 year assignment to a corporate technology team which provided research and consultation as strategic input for the company directors.

Corporate Business Strategist —Member of an executive level resource team given the responsibility to define and implement business process reengineering in manufacturing business units throughout the world.  Some of the major concepts that we introduced were: flow path standardization, pull-process shop floor sequencing support systems, integrated tool and die management, computer-assister maintenance management, quality assurance systems, and supply chain management.

Private Consulting

In 1997, I formed a small consulting company -- LinkEdge Business Strategies, Inc. -- specializing in computer-assisted management methodologies.  I have successfully completed contracts with companies in four countries.  Most of my work has been in the development of management procedure and systems software for production management and process optimization.

In the past two years, I have concentrated in developing and applying a unique methodology for business risk assessment.  The method has proved its value in two applications, and I now have a patent pending for the process.  If you would like to know something about this work, see Risk Assessment.
